Pantheon of Paris

The Pantheon is located on the Sainte-Geneviève hill, in the Latin district of Paris (Vth district).
At the beginning of its construction (1758) it was to be a church dedicated to Sainte Genevieve, but with the revolution and the empire its role was modified, to become the "temple of the nation" in 1791, now intended to accomodate ashes of large characters having marked the French history and the Republic in particular.
At proximity, is the church Saint-Étienne-du-Mont, the Sainte-Geneviève library, the university of Paris I (Sorbonne), the university of Paris II, the town hall of Vth district, the Henri-IV college and down of the street Soufflot the garden of Luxembourg.
